is it safe to delay telling others that you may have an eating disorder?
Question : is it safe to delay telling others that you may have an eating disorder?
I have known for a while and havent told anyone, but lately am feeling that it has to stop and I need to get help. However the timing is just wrong right now as I am afraid that by telling someone that I will end up in a treatment program, and right now I don’t feel I can do this as I am trying to finish up college and also get a certification that goes away this next July. If I have to miss a semster of school I will not be able to get this lisensure, also any suggestions on how to tell someone?

No. Why would you wait? You want to get worse? There are out patient treatments. I assume you are over 18? Then no one can make you go to inpatient rehab.
no, you definetly need to get help right away. the longer you delay treatment for an eating disorder the longer you have to stay in treatment. I was in an eating disorder program last summer for anexoria and they said if I had been admitted a week later that I would have to do the inpatient (stay over night) program. luckily I just had to go six days a week. since you are trying to finish up college you might want to see if your school offers a program for ed’s and if they dont then just do an outpatient program and then you can take nightclasses. but remember the sooner the better!
