@Curveball yeah…i agree…cig addiction is made up of the chemical and the mental or habitual…chemical is the easy part to break..took me four days…but the mental took months…i smoked for six years, and i had gotten so used to having a cigarette when i did normal daily things that it was almost impossible to do them w/ a smoke…one quick example, talking on my phone…sounds stupid, but i swear i struggled ot make cell phone calls while trying to quit…lol sorry, felt like sharing

@pectoralis1602 i felt the same way…had trouble breathing when i tried to quit…which is kind of ironic…and i felt like a moron, i couldn’t focus…hope you’re staying strong…one thing that helps me is to think about all of the little annoying things about them…obvi there’s the health and the money…but one thing i hated was how i had to dryclean my suits all the time bc they smelled like an ash tray

@smokingdragontamer yup…after a few days, the body doesn’t even want the chemicals anymore…it’s been 2 years since i’ve had one…but before successfully quitting, i failed a number of times…i’d usually make it about a week and then have a ciagrette…it was funny bc the cigarette actually tasted awful to me, and i didn’t even enjoy it all that much…my body was like rejecting it…but my mind wanted it….lol alright, i’m posting too much on this link

I have not smoked now for 3 weeks, it is not that hard altho’ I do wish I could just smoke and not worry about it…I want to keep it up for my children and husbands sake -they hate me being a smoker and I do not want the kids to ever start either. Furthermore I sing and I want my voice to get better..not worse! also, to stay healthier and less wrinkled than those vile addictive cigarettes will allow me.
I need to work at it…heres wishing myself good luck

It’s all mind over matter. There really is no need to smoke! I made many excuses to smoke like: I only smoke a few a day, it won’t harm me, I am a rebel, my teeth are still white, I only smoke outside, etc etc… but basically when I decided to STOP I stopped. I smoked for many years & now haven’t had one for over a week & don’t even have cravings. The mind is a powerful tool & can do amazing things if used correctly. I keep my fingers crossed that I never get the urge to light up again.

Curveball is absolutely correct, the physical addiction can be broken, in just 72 hours, and that’s a medical fact. The mental addiction is what gives smokers such a hard time quitting. I’d really suggest using hypnosis. It worked for me and my two sisters.
