how to overcome an eating disorder?
Question : how to overcome an eating disorder?
ok.. so please without being judgemental… i would like to know how i can do this on my own..
first off let me tell you i am a healthy weight
do not have anorexia .. bulimia.. or a full fledged eating disorder..
i have what doctors call disordered eating…
there are many forms of disordered eating
and the one i have is with portions and calories
it is the closest to an actual eating disorder
let me explain my dilemma
i am 16
ever since i was 10 or 11 i have been counting calories in EVERYTHING i eat.. i eat enough around 2000 a day.. but once in a while i go on a diet even tho i dont need to and only eat 1200
i feel sad a lot because i want to go back to when i was 10 or 11 and ate what i wanted and didnt measure a day by how many calories i ate
this is one form of disordered eating that can be dealt without medical intervention..
please help!what should i do ON MY OWN… to make it stop..
before it becomes anorexia.. or ruins my life even more???

If i was you, i would type EDNOS into your search engine.
EDNOS stands for Eating Disorders Not Otherwise Specified.
You will be able to get info about your problem, but i would still recommend going to see a doctor.
I’m the exact same. I’ve been trying all kinds of tricks to teach myself good eating habits without counting calories. I usually feel kind of embarrassed becuase Im constantly reading nutrition labels and when Im with friends I don’t eat the same as they do.
Right now my main goal is to determine when I’m hungry and when I’m not because that’s our bodys naturaly way to say “eat” or “don’t eat”.
Something I’m thinking about trying is NOT counting calories for about 2 weeks. period. Then, if I gain weight, I know I can easily lose it healthily. If I don’t gain weight then I’m getting closer to overcoming my problem.
