Question : How much is health/dental/car insurance for a married couple (no kids) age 21 and 20?
Planning ahead… Would health insurance through our universities be cheaper? We will both still be attending college (different universities, close to each other). What would the estimated rates be per year for heath, dental, and car insurances?

There are so many factors that go into rating the policies that no one can possibly give you an idea of what it’s going to cost you. Your best bet is to get quotes from separate companies online – check progressive, geico, etc. As for medical and dental, check blue cross, blue shield, etc.

It depends on your policy.
The most basic health insurance plan offered by my company, for a 20-21 year old couple is $ 470.75 a month (and coverage for females is much higher at this age, because they can get pregnant. Most individual plans will NOT cover maternity expenses). This is a PPO plan that only offers 70% coverage in-network, and 50% out of network, with a $ 5000 out of pocket maximum.
The dental plan is a bit cheaper, $ 135 a month for a married couple.
Car insurance is based on your driving history and where you park your cars. I’ve paid as much as $ 2400 a year for a single car (a crappy one at that) and as little as $ 400 a year. It all depended on what state I lived in. This was under 25 years of age, 2 drivers, 1 car, married, in Rhode Island (where you also get to pay a Real Property Tax each year for the privilege of owning a car in the state on top of registration fees) and in Arizona (much less expensive fees over all).
