Question : How long has Anorexia Nervosa been around? ?
My friend and I are doing a project and we need to know a lot of information about anorexia nervosa, including history. We have to know Causes, symptoms, is it contagious, treatment, prognosis, History and we need references. PLEASE HELP!!

Its been around a long time but just started getting a lot af attention in the past 30 years or so. It is not caused by physical but by psychological reasons. Everyone with it does not necessarily start out overweight they just see themselves this way. a l;ot of different things can trigger its start and it is very difficult to treat. If it goes on long enough and weight becomes dangerously low it also can cause heart problems lack of menstruation and all kinds of other potentially deadly health issues.
It was recognised as a disease in the 1870s, but glamourised during the waif-like models era. However, it’s incidences have been popping up in medical records since 1680s, though the ‘anorexics’ are sometimes religious people who won’t eat because they feel dirty and starvation, they reckon, is the way to get closer to god.
