Question : How Does music promote, drug/alcohol abuse, gang ideology, aggression, etc, for youth?
How Does music (in particular rap and hip hop) promote, drug/alcohol abuse, sexism towards women, self harm, gang ideology, aggression, etc, for youth? is it through what they say? their videos? what?
Please answer this question in detail if possible. How are these things promoted? e.g. in lyrics? in mood? whatever. I would like some examples if possible.

in almost any way…i dont like to listen to any music that has no point, but sex, drugs, and alcohol…back in the day, it happened much less often, but nowadays its almost impossible to find a mainstream hip hop song that doesnt talk about drugs sex or alcohol…and it does get to the kids, becuz some of these rappers are their role models, and kids often follow their role models

How does it promote those thing, rappers rap about it. For some fans, rappers are their heroes. If he did it, its cool. Or it can be that it adds to an already negative environment. Lets say, my friends slang. I always hear that i should start selling drugs. Instead of having a voice of reason from my music, it makes selling drugs seam cool. Encourages me to slang. That’s all i can come up with. I hope that helped.
yes, but before hip-hop the criminals were glamorized in movies and rock music promoted sex and drugs use. it is nothing new. the only difference is that there are more rappers doing gangsta rap, because of their love of money. not the love of hip hop.
1) criminals, drug use, and sex have been glamorized before hip hop. Examples, purple have by Jimmy Hendricks, Bonnie and Clyde (they were just though of as crazy kids in love when they were no better than murderous thieves), and there were books that promoted a wild sex life (i mean, the joy of sex was published in the early 70s if i remember right)
2) hip hop needs to go in a different direction.

Well, I think movies and televison promote these things more than music.
How many people are fans of the movie “Scarface” compared to people who are fans of Jay-Z, Raekwon, Notorious B.I.G., or any other rapper who raps about drug dealing or living a mafioso lifestyle.
