By you asking this question, I’m thinking she’s right in assuming you’re going to make too big of a deal about it. She had it before you found out, too and it wasn’t any different, was it? You don’t have to tell her anything, it’s not about you.
My dad, three of my friends, and I all have bipolar disorder, and we live mostly normal lives. Your friend is exactly the same person she was before she was diagnosed and she will live a mostly normal life, too. She’ll just have a few more bumps in the road than everyone else. When I told my friends, I just wanted them to treat me exactly the same as they had before, and they did. Don’t think about the disorder. It won’t consume her and she’ll be functional as long as she stays on her meds and in therapy.
