How do antidepressants work?
antidepressant drugs
More : tinyurl.com Antidepressant drugs, particularly of the SSRI type are used for much more than depression these days. From uses as disparate as treating migraines and stopping smoking, to pre-menstrual pains, and and weight loss, the list goes on and on. It seems that just about anything that affects the mind, the first course of treatment that many doctors recommend is to try an SSRI. Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the use or over-use of antidepressants, many would like to know; just how do SSRI antidepressants work? In this article I give a brief overview of the theory underlying SSRI antidepressants and what the process they actually undertake in the brain.

@exbronco1980 That is not true at all!!, I am taking Zoloft and it has made me a much happier person. Me before zoloft = always feeling extremely bored and sad, quick anger and temper problems, and always low energy. Me on zoloft = I can finally wake up in the morning and smell the fresh air, eat food with happiness, walk with happiness ect. It really did change my life.

@jeffrey42088 it has saved many lives. some people become depressed and require councelling and that’s all however what sometimes happens is that they are misdiagnosed and end up taking antidepressants which in turn messes up their ‘normal’ system. so most of the times when antidepressants especially ssri’s don’t work. this is what occurs. and weed is worse!!!

@jeffrey42088 hey nobody’s paying me to say anything. i’m a pharmacist and personally i don’t like drugs. but i have seen it save people. one of my good friend’s mother has a mental disorder and antidepressants are the only thing that’s keeping her sanity in tact. they don’t know the real reason for depression but it’s linked to a deficiency of serotonin in ure brain, this can be brought out by trauma or even hereditary factors. but if a silly doctor diagnoses a patient wrongly and treats them

@jeffrey42088 and gives them antidepressants for depression due to something short term (such as death in a family, etc) and the person does not have MDD or bipolar disease etc then the pills are simply going to mess up their system and cause them to commit suicide. I agree that the drug is still dangerous. oh and i have a distant uncle who lives on the streets because of weed. i guess you’ll say all things in moderation? oh and btw i’m a girl not a boy.

I did’t get paid for this dude. I wish i did lol, then i would have money to pay a lawyer to get a damn divorce.

@therapeutics23 well fuck it, no for real think about it right now in this moment there is not a single thing you can do about it! Live in the moment and enjoy life and yes in moderation, people are irresponsible with things, weed is NOT a harmful drug, no such thing as ” disease of addiction” or “depression” its just lack of self discipline and irresponsibility and if you think about it it all comes down to ONE universal human trait, fear.

@therapeutics23 And by overcoming fear you can LOVE yourself, and I speak from my own experience, I love me and nothing can take that away and I never get down over anything little,( unless of course a death happens) which brings me to another point, Life is too short to be fearful and down all the time, LIVE LIFE AND LOVE LIFE, LIFE IS FUCKING BEAUTIFUL, NO MATTER WHAT BECAUSE YOUR ALIVE! FOR THIS MOMENT IS BEAUTIFUL BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE YOUR LAST!
