I dont think public insurance will pay for it at all. Your best bet is to find someone that will finance you, or take a loan. Given that I know what the financial requirements for medicaid are though, no one is going to finance you with that small of an income and nothing to use as collateral.
Do you honestly think that surgery is going to change anything? Out of 11 people that I know who have had the various types of surgery, only 1 has kept the weight off long term. While it is possible for the surgery to give you the oomph to make the lifestyle changes, its comparable to the chances of being a rock star or a movie star. The only way you will loose the weight and keep it off is a long term life style change.

The problem with Medicaid is that it pays almost nothing to physicians. Surgeons have all the liability of dealing with a fairly high risk patient, but very little reimbursement. Bariatric surgery is a long-term relationship – the guys I know who do it usually insist on about 6 months of preparation before they’ll operate, and if you smoke or are non-compliant with medications or other instructions, the surgery is off.
While it may look like an easy fix, the surgery must be combined with permanent lifestyle changes for you to lose the weight and keep it off. Your diet must change dramatically, and you must exercise daily for the rest of your life.
You might try contacting a teaching hospital to see if they have a bariatric clinic that you might be eligible for. Good luck.

get on obesityhelp.com they have a plethora of information on doctors and hospitals and what insurances have been approved for other people. stay positive…of the 5 people in my family who have had gastric bypass, only 1 has had any complications and its because she refused to take care of herself after the surgery. she continued to smoke, only drinks tea(a diuretic that leads to dehydration), and started consuming alcohol after 15 years of being sober. it is not an easy fix to obesity its a tool. if you use the tool correctly and listen to what your body tells you, the surgery is a great ally. hope this helps and good luck to you!!
