So its not a Prophy cleaning but a scailing and root cleaning (SRP)… The perio probe tool will make your teeth bleed, you will be in that chair for a good hour….

1. Dental Assistants do not have licenses to do a “cleaning”. Only dentists and hygienists. Can a dental assistant clean them? sure, with enough practice anyone can clean your teeth. Is it legal? No.
2. This video is not informative at all, the recommendations of flossing 3xday are ridiculous, and the talk of “scraping and discomfort” are ridiculous.
3. Scaling above/below the gum line removes hardened plaque called calculus; plaque is the soft debris you brush off at home.
