Steven R. Buchman, MD, Professor of Surgery, Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and professor of neurosurgery at the University of Michigan Medical School, was elected president of the American Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ASMS). The mission of the ASMS is the science and practice of surgery of the craniofacial region and the craniofacial skeleton advance. The announcement was made this week during plastic surgery, 2010, joint annual scientific meeting of the ASMS and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPs), the world? S largest plastic surgery association and foremost authority on cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. Recorded on Monday, October 4, Dr. Frank Buchman ASMS act as chairman for one year.

addition to his appointment as university professor, Dr. Frank Buchman, director of the craniofacial anomalies at the University of Michigan Medical Center and director of pediatric plastic surgery at CS Mott Children? s Hospital. He is a member of numerous professional societies and medical associations including the Society of University Surgeons, American and international companies in craniofacial surgery, and the Association of Academic Chairman of Plastic Surgery. There is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Buchanan received his bachelor’s degree at Columbia University majoring in English and protein biochemistry, and then received his degree in medicine at the Medical College of Virginia. He in general and plastic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, trained, and a skull-scholarship at UCLA. Dr. Buchmann has in practice for 18 years and holds American Board of Plastic Surgery certification in 1995 and was recertified in 2005.

conferences around the world as a guest lecturer at the science and practice of craniofacial surgery and has written several book chapters and over 100 articles in professional journals. Dr. Buchman? S Research has distinguished himself at the highest level of peer review, as is currently the Principal Investigator on NIH’s own and was the recipient of many prestigious awards such as the granting of Ivy League and SSPA numerous awards for the best communication. Dr. Buchman said Clinician of the Year at the University of Michigan Medical Center in 2009 and was also a professor of pediatric plastic surgery in 2010.

American Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons is the oldest organization, the maxillofacial surgeon.
