[Adult Orthodontics] After your braces….did your facial profile change?

Question : [Adult Orthodontics] After your braces….did your facial profile change?
Your facial profile is the side view of your face.

I’m asking about after you had your braces removed.

I guess I will find out soon enough because my orthodontist took a side view of face at the beginning of treatment and will take another one at the end of my treatment.

ALSO, please add what you had done. Braces …and what else. Removal of teeth? Jaw surgery? Was your mouth overcrowded?

Im not an adult, but I had 4 adult teeth taken out so braces would be able to straighten up my teeth.

I had ogival palate (That is my palate was very high but not wide enough). I also had malocclusion (II class – that is overbite). However my teeth per se were pretty straight.

I wore a headgear for a year, then a palatal expander, then a retainer and a mouthguard.

My face did change after it! But I like it better, much better.

No, it did not change, I did get 2 teeth removed before I got braces, they were baby teeth that just loved being my teeth so much that they didn’t want to fall out. I had a really bad over bite, so bad that the orthodontst said that my top teeth would fall out because my bottom teeth were pushing on them so much or somthing like that, it was a 110% over-bite or somthing like that, and I had a gap between my two frount teeth, but other than those things, my teeth wernt really all that bad.

my face changed a lot. i had to have a palatial expander which widens the top jaw because i had such a narrow face that my teeth were kinda caving in on one said (my horrible allergies did this and i had to go on allergy shots before they would even do the braces)

but i have cheek bones now!

My profile did not change. My face DID thin out while my braces were on. The other stuff was a lot of hooey so I would buy braces. My bite was off a bit, that’s all.

I had braces on at 14, off at 16. I’m 20. Before I had my braces on, I had an overbite, meaning my front teeth came too far over my bottom. My profile was way different in the end. There was actually a straight line from under my nose to my chin, that’s how it’s supposed to be. Before, my jaw set back further. I had to use the elastics to correct my jaw. No surgery. No removal of teeth.. no crowding. Just plain old braces! Good luck.
