ACE or IFPA personal certification?
Question : ACE or IFPA personal certification?
After high school i want to be a personal trainer, specifically be a weight management/ lifestyle consultant. I know ACE offers that certification but which certification company is more nationally recoginized? I’d like to further my education with nutrition courses. It would be helpful if a personal trainer answered this esp one certified with one of these companies. PLEASE tell me if you can substain a living off being a personal trainer. Like what are the hourly wages starting off at fitness center like Snap Fitness or something like that.

If you don’t want to go the independent route, consider targeting a job personal training for a corporation that is NOT in the fitness industry. Having in house personal trainers is an innovative benefit that many corporations are adding. You can work with clients throughout the day in the corporate gym.
While these jobs are hard to find (you really have to go out and convince them to start an in house program), the benefits and pay are great. The business world usually pays much better than the fitness world.
So What are some of the Personal Trainer Average Salary rates?
The U.S. national average salary for a certified personal trainer is $ 34,000 – $ 48,000. Why the range? Because of all those other factors listed above. Many trainers earn over $ 60,000 and if you start your own personal training business you can easily grow to over $ 120,000 per year ($ 150,000 if you sell complimentary products and services).
The Disappearing Gender Gap
Good news Ladies! Personal trainer average salary rates are statistically the same for men and women with equal experience. This is rare, so enjoy!
If you’re still in high school, have the career center or guidance center assist you with finding a mentor or speaking to someone in the field who can guide you.
You can also check with a counselor at the local college that can give you some guidance on the courses you should be taking to give you an idea of what you need and if this is the field for you.
I had the same question. I was introduced to NASM. NASM is widely recognized because it’s the hardest to get. The reason? While other certifications focus on things like posture during a workout, the NASM curriculum forces you to learn more about the body. It teaches you way more than you ever wanted to know, a lot of biology stuff like how the nervous system works, as well as nutrition and dealing with injuries. For this reason, it’s a much more in-depth approach. NASM also offers the option to continue to work towards further certifications and specializations.
