Most dental technicians don’t work on patients so Biochemistry wouldn’t be necessary for their job – as part of their dental technician course oral biology is covered but not in depth. For a dental technician the most important skill they can have is hand skills as their job is making small dental appliances in a laboratory, some of the work is highly detailed. The work is then sent back to the dentist who does the clinical patient contact/fitting of the appliance in place part.
The exception is clinical dental technicians who have taken further study after first qualifying as a dental technician. They work independently of dentists with the patients themselves, and therefore require more in depth knowledge of biology. If you have a goal of becoming a clinical dental technician then Biochemistry might be useful knowledge to have.
