Question : Why have prices in cosmetic surgery gone down?
Look back 20 years. The price today is a lot lower today. Why?
I guess I should add. Why have prices gone up in regular health care?
I believe it can be directly attributed to government intervention and regulations.

Cosmetic surgery is an elective, which is paid for by people, not insurance. Also, there are many more types of less-invasive procedures available now, compared to 20 years ago, such as cosmetic fillers like Restylane and Botox.
One other thing that is driving costs down lately is the recession – clinics trying to attract people are lowering prices. -

I believe because 20 years ago it was a speciality and rare for doctors to specialize in plastic surgery. Now everyone sees that is where the money is so many doctors specialize and become board certified in plastic surgery. With there being 5 times as many doctors its only natural for prices to start dropping due to competition. Also for things like breast implants the cost to make the materials are so much cheaper now than it was 20 or 30 years ago. And why has regular healthcare went up? Thats because these are things that people NEED so the healthcare industry know they can just charge whatever they want and people will not have a choice but to go with them.
