Where can I compare Medicare Part D plans besides medicare.gov?
Question : Where can I compare Medicare Part D plans besides medicare.gov?
I used the Medicare Part D plan comparison tool at plancompare.medicare.gov last year to find the best plan for 2009. However, when I try to use that calculator for 2010 plans, it only shows 1 plan available in my zip code. I know there are 20-30 actually available in my area, so obviously something isn’t right when I use that calculator. Where else can I go to compare plans?
If possible, I’d like to be able to type in all my prescription drugs and have it automatically tell me the total cost of each plan, like the medicare.gov calculator does.
Thank you!

Hey Jay, Something must be going wrong there. I am a national, independent broker and do 1000+ of these comparisons on Medicare.gov each year. I have never had this problem, as there are 40+ plans in each state for 2010. Make sure that you are looking at Medicare Part D, not “Medicare health plans” (aka Medicare Advantage).
The Medicare.gov site is, by far, the best site to do it on your own. There are other sites who promise an “unbiased comparison” but unfortunately, many of them will just sell your information to the highest agent bidder as a “lead”.
