When is a Herpes Blood Test considered accurate?
Question : When is a Herpes Blood Test considered accurate?
Hello
I feared that I may have been exposed to Genital Herpes 5 weeks ago, and I have no obvious symptoms other than itching.
It’s been 34 days since I may have caught the virus and I want to know if it is the right time to get a blood test? Would a blood test at this stage be considered accurate or should I wait a little bit longer to get the Herpes blood test? And how long should I wait?
Thanks a lot

Well Herpes takes about 1 week in its incubation period. In other words, for the symptoms of herpes to start developing. To what i know the herpes blood test can be more accurate after 1 week of having caught the virus.
So NO dont wait any longer! Go and get checked already.
It can take several weeks for the antibodies to show in your blood. I would wait 3 months before being tested, unless you have visible symptoms. 90% of people that have herpes are unaware because they do not have physical symptoms.
