There’s nothing “mini” about an eating disorder. Whether fat or thin, either extreme can kill him.
If you’re going to do it, be prepared to go all out.
Tell him what you’ve noticed about his eating habits, and then tell him that you’re concerned and you think he needs professional help. Tell him that you’re always willing to listen to him and support him when he needs it, and you want to do everything you can to help him through this. Try to get him to see a nutritionist, psychologist and doctor, and if possible, find an eating disorder support group in your area that your brother can attend. Don’t be too pushy about food, because that often causes a person with an eating disorder to simply hide his/her eating habits better. Try to understand why your brother has his eating disorder, what might “trigger” it, and ask him if there are any specific things that he does or does not want you to do involving food that could make recovery easier for him.
I hope this helped.
