Question : The treatment program I am in is making me eat every two hours.?
I just started an outpatient treatment program at the hospital for anorexia last week. They are making us eat every two hours. I think that’s too much, I mean doesn’t food need 3-4 hours to digest properly?

They aren’t making you eat, you are chosing to. And every two hours is insane, you’re going to gain tons of weight and get fat.
First off, don’t listen to the answer above mine from Sara, she is dead wrong with her answer. You are in the recovery stages of a very serious illness. First off let me say good job on starting to make the changes to be healthy. Anyway, eating every two hours is perfect advice for someone such as yourself. What they are doing by having you eat every two hours is giving your body a seemingly constant stream of nutrients to replenish the damage that has been done by the anorexia. Eating too much at one time could actually make you sick right now. Trust the hospital on this one, I promise you they are doing the right thing here. As time goes on and your muscles and internal organs are getting back to their normal size and function, they will adjust your food plan to your needs.
Also, it takes more than 4 hours for food to digest, but that’s from the moment you chew until you go to the bathroom. However, it has a long ways to go between hitting your stomach and coming out the other end if you know what I mean. eating smaller meals more often is a very common diet these day, and study after study has shown it to be effective for people who are trying to lose weight, gain weight, or just be healthy. Best of luck in your fitness goals.
