The Center for Integrative Oncology Research at Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA are awarded grants of 0.1 million U.S. dollars for the study of complementary care and integration of breast cancer. The grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) is awarded officially supported a project entitled A Breast Cancer Integrative Oncology

five-year award enables clinical researchers at Bastyr University Research Institute and the Center Hutchinson perform a rigorous study based on results. Investigators track clinical outcomes for the participants with breast cancer who received standard therapy in addition to conventional comprehensive care at Bastyr? S Integrative Oncology Research Center. These results are then compared with the results for participants with breast cancer who do not care integrated with conventional care.
Research Center for Integrative Oncology opened its doors in February 2009 Bastyr Universityâ? s campus. It was established to improve the quality of life of people with cancer, the risk of recurrence of the disease and the effectiveness of complementary therapies, exchange and integration in the treatment of diseases.
