Like… fever, vomiting, etc…
Can any illnesses with those kinds of symptoms wind up causing dementia? If so, what kinds?
dementia symptoms

Answer by Julia Anna
There are several things which could cause dementia:
* Diseases that cause degeneration or loss of nerve cells in the brain such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Huntington’s.
* Diseases that affect blood vessels, such as stroke, which can cause a disorder known as multi-infarct dementia.
* Toxic reactions, like excessive alcohol or drug use.
* Nutritional deficiencies, like vitamin B12 and folate deficiency.
* Infections that affect the brain and spinal cord, such as AIDS dementia complex and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.
* Certain types of hydrocephalus, an accumulation of fluid in the brain that can result from developmental abnormalities, infections, injury, or brain tumors.
* Head injury — either a single severe head injury or longer term smaller injuries, like in boxers.
* Illness other than in the brain — kidney, liver, and lung diseases can all lead to dementia.
So I don’t think that flu-like symptoms are sinilar or may cause dementia.

Obesity is a major health crisis for the next generation. What can parents do to help children master their own weight:

Walk Do not Run

preventive Pumping Iron by Shannon Brownlee

There must be thousands of children only in America these days, the assessment for the rising rates of overweight children. According to the latest figures from the Federal, the proportion of young people aged 6 to 11 who are overweight has tripled since the 1960s to 13%. How many obese children 1-7, and the doctors are seeing dangerously obese children as young as two years.

“We never had a population like this before,” says Naomi Neufeld, a pediatric endocrinologist and director of the Kid form a nonprofit program for weight loss in Los Angeles. “Children who are overweight are 20% to 30% higher than it was 10 years ago.
We can not even imagine that the medical costs that we in the future. It feels like Armageddon.”

This is hardly an exaggeration. Last month, the Surgeon General to be issued an urgent appeal to the nation to fight weight problems more and more, a decision that has arisen in part by the rate of the epidemic of obesity in children.

Obese children are twice as likely to have high blood pressure or heart disease than children with normal weight have. Even more alarming is the number of children with type 2 or insulin-dependent diabetes. Once known as adult diabetes begin to so many children known type 2 diabetes subjects children at risk for very adult diseases, including blindness, nerve damage, kidney failure and cardiovascular disease.

What can parents do to protect their children against the risk of seizure, too? Many, especially if they start early, before their children into the habit of eating high fat, high sugar foods and the habit of regular exercise. Children are more susceptible to weight balloon during childhood and adolescence again.

Children

normally lose the ages of one to six or seven fat years. As they begin to share the excess pounds as toddlers, they are not at increased risk of obesity in adulthood for reasons that are well understood.

genes certainly help, but there is much parents can do what, to influence how their children eat and reduce the chances that they end up obese. Infants are very sensitive to how many calories they need to support the development and maintenance of normal weight, they know when they are hungry and when they are full. But most children do not listen to the internal signals when they reach school age. The reason? Parents, says Leann Birch, a psychologist at Penn State University. “There are things that parents want the best intentions turn out to be counter-productive,” she said. A well-known. Insistence that the children eat their plates clean, a rule that will teach children, if they are not hungry

parents are able to influence what their children eat you. The children are with a sweet tooth and a salty one born, but they must learn to appreciate other tastes. You often have to repeat the introduction of fees in the health beans and other vegetables. Dessert can use to bribe children to eat nutritious foods backfire, “said Birch.

” When children are given food as a reward, they will learn to prefer the food, “she said, and learn vegetables for to eat dog.

A better method is to place several items on the plate and try with the kids to a bite of each. Birch also recommends that parents learn how to appropriate sections (two locations that offer excellent guidelines serve . Health and www.cspinet.org / kids / index.html parents should limit amount of sweets and junk food in the house .. she says, including fruit juice and soda. Restricting access to a pantry full of fatty snacks and sugary drinks, no food appear more desirable.

The flip side of the equation for the weight of course exercise that American children are lower than ever before, at least in part, to television, computers and video games. According to a recent Nielsen report , children from 2 to 11 clock an average of 20 hours of television per week, an activity that does not burn calories and tends to encourage snacking by exposing children to all sorts of old advertising food and beverages. Just off the tube may help to avoid children being overweight.

> In a landmark study in 1999, Thomas Robinson, a pediatrician at the University of Stanford published, compared the habits of television and the weight of two groups of third and fourth grade. Half of the children, most of which were of normal weight, attended the classes they taught, their time monitor TV and computer and replaced by other activities. At the end of the year, had children in the special program increased an average of 2 pounds. less than the control group. obesity experts recommend that remove parents TV from a room with their children, and strict limits spend time in front of a screen, including the computer. Give your children alternatives to zoning in front of a screen key, “said Robinson.

Once a child has grown too much weight It’s time to get help from outside. Many parents are in stock weight loss turning for children, an industry which seems as fast as the size of America. Camp like the answer seems to grow, especially if a child is overweight comes home so much as 50 €. light, but be careful. children lose, summer often recover autumn.

Parents should be taught as a camp, the children, how can you look to sustainable changes in their eating habits and exercise. Lloyd Lamb visited Camp Vanguard in Lake Wales, Florida, where he learned to read food labels for fat and walk after meals. He lost 40 lbs. Last summer, his fifth in the camp. His parents have also learned one of the pediatric obesity programs are most successful in Land. “You really need the parents are being treated, he said, if only because the parents are obese children often overweight or obese themselves. Usually the whole family was their diet and reduce fatty foods and sweets. Epstein encourages families to year in their daily lives, on walks together after dinner, for example, or turn on the TV at the weekend.

When parents send their children to fight obesity seeking to protect, they must go beyond, home school their children, where physical education and recess are in line art and music. hundreds at the same time, from school districts in need of money across the country have turned to soft drink bottlers, which as much as 0000 offer a year rather than exclusive “pouring” contracts to machines in school hallways. directors have cafeterias open to the fast-food franchises such as Taco Bell and Burger King. “If your job has been to the American child as unhealthy as possible to do you have much better than fast food and soft drinks in school canteens, “asks Kelly Brownell, a psychologist at Yale University.
