Can you tell me whether or not it is easy or difficult to get employment as a Medical Lab Technician once done with schooling?

The simple answer is that it is easy to get a job after you are trained. But, it depends on where you want to live when you are finished with school. The economy has slowed hiring and new positions down a bit but there are still lots of jobs available. Metropolitan areas still have many openings that are going unfilled.

how do i know if this career is a good fit for me? my relatives want me to go into nursing but im really not good at dealing with life and death situations. and i get extremely sensitive when i see sick ppl. but i love science and medicine, just not sick people.

MLT=Medical Laboratory Technician
MT=Medical Technologist

MLT=2 year associate degree
MT=4 year bachelors degree

MLT’s usually work subordinate to MT’s but not always. MT’s usually are paid more (more responsibilities).

My husband has been working as an MLT since 1993. I showed him your question and he says, yes. He also draws blood, which is something not all MLT’s do. This is the only time he is in contact with patients.

Hi Eliza,
I think you will have to take some test to be able to have your license/certifcate in USA. But you can always do research online to be sure.
I am enrolling into the MLT and there is lots of jobs for it, well paid.

Not at all. If there is definitely employment thoughout the USA is in the Healthcare Career. So go for it. I am not sure where in the US u are located but in NY you start at 67/68k a year.
