Question : Looking to go inpatient for an eating disorder but cannot afford costs. Any suggestions?
I am looking to go inpatient for an eating disorder and cannot afford the payment. I have insurance but I would rather not use that considering my parents will see it. I don’t need anyone telling me what to do other than advice on paying for this. Not to be rude but some people think they know everything.

I understand well your desire for your parents not to know about this. I certainly keep as much about myself private and away from my parents’ knowledge as possible. It speaks well of your sense and your courage that you are taking the initiative to get help. However, insurance is the only practical way to get your treatment paid for. Part of getting help is finding ways to deal with stressful problems, like dealing with your parents, and standing up to them when necessary, and detaching yourself from the things they say to you. So one thing you’ll learn while an inpatient is how to respond to your parents so that you’ll be able to deal with their telling you what to do, and cope with it. Therefore, I suggest you go inpatient, and then get help while there with ways to deal with your parents in addition to ways to treat your disorder.
Good luck!
ive had an eating disorder for 11 years and have been in 5 hospitals for that and other personality disorders like borderline personality and bipolar. I was never in a “eating disorder” clinic, i was in a regular hospital on the floor with all the other loonies. I spent a total of 3 months over one year and 5 hospital stays because my insurance always kicked meout after 2 weeks because my insurance suck. And no one is ever “sick enough”. I still struggle, if you have any questions email me and let me know we can talk
