Question : Is it illegal to return a blood glucose monitor UNOPENED?
I bought a blood glucose monitor at Walmart, and it turns out I was given one by a friend of mine, so I didn’t need it. I had my receipt and went to customer service and the lady there said it is ILLEGAL to return it because of blood issues like HIV and Hep and all. I don’t understand something— if it is UNOPENED And still SEALED, how is it illegal?? Is she right? Or was she just not wanting to do a return?

Even if it was opened, there’s no blood that comes in contact with the meter. but that’s not even the point because its unopened. I think she was just being a jerk. Ask to speak to the manager.

Just a tip, if the one that was given to you is the same kind, keep them both. Its nice to have one at work and one at home. Or if you have upstairs and downstairs bathrooms, I keep one in each. Its nice to have more than one. However if they are different types and you can get insurance to cover the strips, then stick with one.

BTW, your insurance should cover the cost of that meter.
