Is 24 weeks too short for a medical assistant program?
Question : Is 24 weeks too short for a medical assistant program?
I know that most medical assistant programs last 9 months, but this program at this particular school that I am contemplating on attending lasts 24 weeks. Do you think that a medical assistant program should last longer than this? Should I pursue this program or not? Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

MOST medical assistants are nothing more then receptionist, and file clerks…..
(i have NOTHING against receptionist and file clerks they are hard working valuable components of an effective team)
most medical assistants do NOT do any type of patient care so 24 weeks should be more then adequate….
if you are looking at advancing on to a career such as nursing or a physician then this is most likely a waste of your time and money… the credits you receive most likely WON”T transfer and the certificate you receive will most likely only be recognized by the school that issued it…..
It is the total number of hours that is important, (and specified by law) not the length. This program may have you in class 5 days a week and longer days. However, make sure your program is legit & accredited. Also make sure that you can get a job after–many MAs can not find work.
