I don’t think so. From what I understand, a breast lift can be a longer procedure and local anesthesia wears off pretty quickly. Also, there’s going to be a lot of cutting, tugging and stiching involved, and the doctor would want to minimize the risk of you moving at the wrong moment.
You’d have to find a surgeon that’s comfortable doing that, and most won’t be.
There’s reasons for that. The amount of local anesthesia required may approach toxic levels, and nobody wants you having seizures and heart problems. Breast lifts are done on both sides, and if rib blocks are done, you’re risking collapsing lungs on both sides – not a great idea.
If you decide halfway through that you just can’t take it anymore, what then?
Also, if you don’t have an anesthesiologist, the surgeon has to pay attention to your comfort in addition to what he’s doing surgically. Wouldn’t you rather have him/her concentrate on the surgery?
If you are concerned about general anesthesia, ask to talk to your anesthesiologist ahead of time, and perhaps those concerns can be addressed.
Good luck.
