How Long Does A Slipped Disk Take To Heal?
Question : How Long Does A Slipped Disk Take To Heal?
I injured my back on Saturday and I went to the physio this morning and she said I have a slipped disk. She’s given me a few stretches and I have to see her on Friday again.
How long does this typically take to heal?
Thanks.

it can be a week or for ever. just do as she tells you and slow down
A slipped disc doesn’t “heal”. It is not an injury like that. Your discs are little shock absorbers that are almost jelly like, and sometimes they can get knocked out of place, so a little bit of that jelly like stuff sticks out and sometimes pinches your nerves which causes pain. I was 16 when I had a herniated disc.
I went to physical therapy first after getting an MRI to confirm my disc was herniated. We did stretches, massages, and tons of other things to try and manually force the disc back into place. It didn’t work, so I had surgery to remove the portion of the disc that was out of place. A week after surgery, the disc re-herniated (more of the disc slipped out of place). I had to have a second surgery a couple months later.
Good Luck with this, and hopefully you will be able to resolve it without having to go for surgery. This was a very horrible battle for me and I feel for you in every way. Some people live with their herniated discs, but in my case, it was resting on my sciatic nerve and eating away at the nerve, making me limp on my left leg. I couldn’t sit/stand/lay without being hurt so surgery was the best option. I have not had a problem since the second surgery.
