Question : How hard is it to find a dental assistant job right after you finish school?
Im about to finish dental assistant school and is wondering how hard is it going to be to find a job after im done.

Most areas of the country are looking for dental assistants. You should be starting to look in newspapers and making applications at different dental offices. I wish you good luck.

Absolutely start looking now!
As some of the above have said, your local newspapers and the internet have employment listings.. look under ‘healthcare’ jobs.
There are many dentists out there who will welcome a ‘new grad’, since they can ‘mold’ you to their specifications. Just beware of assistants who have been in the field for a while, as some of them forget they once started out ‘new’ at one time and may have an attitude……

Trying to find a job as a dental assistant is more competitive than one might think. An experienced assistant can find a job rather easily, however like you stated in your question you will be a recent graduate. this has definite pros, in my states there is no special training required to become a dental assistant, and since you have actually been through a technical program you will have a definite advantage. On the other hand experienced dentist will prefer to hire an assistant that have at least 3 years of in office experience, this is because you will learn so much more after one year of in-office experience when compared to all the training you have received. However with this tid-bit of information you should be able to find a job rather easily. If you have the option of employers, it would be advisable to find a relatively new dentist that still has large education loans to pay off. These dentist tend to work a full 5 day work week and will allow you to capitalize on your profits. Most older dentist will work a 3 or 4 day work week. This doesn’t affect their income as much as it will yours. They will likely pay you by the hour so a 24 or 32 hour work week could reduce your income, which may or may not be what your are interested in.
Overall though I would say you will be able to find a job relatively easy. Even with the economic recession that is occurring, people will still need health care treatment.

It should be a breeze, as long as you aren’t picky on the type of office you are looking for.
If you are looking to start off to get a foot in the door, there are tons of places. Craigslist.com, careerbuilder, and many dentaljobs.com places have openings.
Also look into corporate offices. A lot of these corporate offices have a high turn around rate because employees are looking for something more “family oriented” or “flexible.” These corporate offices have tons of openings.
And as a dental assistant you should pretty much be able to work front desk, just to get your foot in the door.

No worries. You can always check online to view jobs. Or in the newspaper. Since the economy was a disaster my mom went looking for jobs. I tried to help and i did. i went to http://www.careerbuilder.com/ and as soon as up to three through five days my mom has found a job. I hope you can find a dental assistant career in your life.
