Gestational Diabetes and Weight-loss?
Question : Gestational Diabetes and Weight-loss?
I am 32 weeks pregnant and recently found out I have Gestational Diabetes. I am controlling it with a diet plan given to me by my doctor, and everything is going well and under control. My worry is this new diet is causing me to loose a lot of weight. I am eating a ton, but it is basically like being on a low-carb diet, and it is causing weight loss. Now I was not thin to start out; when I was diagnosed at 25 weeks I was at 230, and now I am down to 190. So it’s not like I am a bean pole, but I still have two months to go. The doctor says that the baby is doing fine, but I read so much that says any weight loss during pregnancy is bad. Anyone else had this issue? Was the baby ok? Were you?
Thanks in advance!

If you weighed 130 and were rapidly losing, I would definitely be concerned. But if you are losing fat while your baby is continuing to grow and your blood sugar is well controlled, then stay on this path for now.
i hear about weight loss during pregnancy a lot. if your an adult you body will take what it needs for baby, if there is anything to worry about it’s your bones and your body. my aunt lost about 20lbs with her last child and he was over 7lbs but she had some issues, small ones and she’s ok now. it’s bad to try and lose weight when your pregnant but that isn’t what you are doing.
your baby is going to be fine. congrats.
