Eating Disorder Foundation of Orange County will host Family Fun Walk

The Eating Disorder Foundation of Orange County is the 1st Annual Family Fun Hike host on Saturday, 7 October, 2006. This 3.2 mile “novice” hike at Crystal Cove State Park in Laguna Beach the day’s events will begin at 8:00 clock and lunch catering, climbing wall, bounce houses, music, give-a-ways and more. The event was designed to include family members of all ages. All proceeds will go to raising awareness and prevention of eating disorders.

Orange County is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the provision of prevention efforts, early detection and education for our community about the reality of eating disorders. Eating disorders are conditions that a person spend most of their waking hours trying to lead and compulsive eating, weight, calories, and / or body image. These obsessions may binge eat, starve or binge and purge.
10-15% of all Americans suffer from some form of eating disorder. These diseases can take from 5-15 years or longer. The duration of the disease, the greater the chance of death or serious, irreversible medical consequences. Eating disorders are progressive and can cause severe physical and mental illnesses and / or death.
Fund
scope of the Family Fun Hike will help the Foundation continue to give free presentations and resource links to local schools, provide parents groups, sports organizations and professional groups interested in prevention and detection of eating disorders. Programs, which include already developed and implemented by EDFOC “a healthy mind, healthy body,” a program specifically for schools in Orange County. The Eating Disorder Foundation of Orange County also offers programs for those who can not afford the treatment they urgently need to provide their financial recovery.
