dairy, wheat, soy, eggs, peanuts, and fish Free diet?
Question : dairy, wheat, soy, eggs, peanuts, and fish Free diet?
My baby has severe food allergies but because she is only 2 months old and I breastfeed I cant pinpoint what the problem is. My doctor wants me to stop breastfeeding and give her formula but I dont want to. My lactation consultant told me to go on a dairy, wheat, soy, eggs, peanuts, and fish free diet. BUT… what do I eat then???? I dont even know where to start?

In place of dairy – rice milk, beans and green veggies.
In place of wheat – any other grain.
In place of soy – any other bean
Eggs – we don’t need to eat bird periods.
Peanuts – any other nut.
Fish – we don’t need to eat fish.A cookbook you may want to pick up.

Its not that bad, eat fresh fruits & vegetables…
Lack of breastfeeding is the worst thing you can do for allergies…
But with so many allergies, it is best to just stick with whole foods like eating apples for breakfast and spinach salad for lunch…It baiscally boils down to eating at home simple unprocessed meals.
You can get a full source of protein from chorella and spirulina. Something that might make it easier is substituting dairy with goat’s milk. Goat’s milk may not be Vegan, but it is generally considered safe for allergies and intolerances (lactose and casein). There are some awesome Goat milk ice creams out there…Very high quality and flavor (at $ 8 a pint)…Also they now have Gluten-free oatmeal (it must be labeled as such).
If you try eating out you will inevitably fail…everything has soy in it! And there is no such thing as a soy-free restaurant! Although you may be able to find some gluten-free restaurants out there or even just eat veggie sushi without the soy sauce…I do that all the time…
I have the same diet your are describing, it is not so bad. You can email me if you have any questions.

Also, if you’ve ever heard of sparkpeople.com (free), it’s mainly a website to help you lose weight but it can also be used as a place that helps design your meals so that you can get all the nutrition you need and healthy balanced meals. Somewhere in there is a selection of diet requirements where you can say that you can’t consume the following food, blah blah blah.Best of luck to you and your baby!

Drink lots of water. The basis of your meals should be rice, barley, and some of the more exotic grains like quinoa. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.
By the way, your lactation consultant is trying to eliminate the most common products that people are allergic to: Dairy protein allergy, celiac disease (that’s an allergy to gluten), and the vegetable estrogen in soy. Eggs, peanuts and fish are also all common food allergies.
Try eating eastern-style, rice and vegetable stir-frys for a start. Salads are also an option.

If you are considering the suggestion by your lactation consultant more than trying formula, then ask the lactation consultant to provide you a meal plan. If he/she is going to suggest a certain diet, then he/she needs to give you somewhere to start. But I really think you should try the formula. Why not try the formula? If your baby is having problems with your breast milk, then I think you should consider that further. My brother was premature and had a ton of allergies at birth too. He almost died because of it from starvation, but my mom’s doctor was able to find a suitable formula for him and he is fine and very big now 27 years later.
