Black Box Recorder – Child Psychology (Gilmore Girls soundtrack)
child psychology
“Child Psychology” by Black Box Recorder is the song that Lane brings over in “Emily in Wonderland” (Season 1, Episode 19) that Rory likes because it depresses her.

I totally agree with you. If a person is so undeveloped and ignorant about the word that they think that anything that shows any sign of pain is “emo”, well then fuck them, I’m emo I suppose. Just we know enough about pain and darkness and we embrace it doesn’t mean that we cut our wrists and have black hair covering our eyes.

You’re right, I also find something strangely comforting in this.
I found this through a show named “Monkey Dust”, which has a very similar feel to it.
I was into music and shows that portrayed similar insights long before I knew it had been adorned with the word emo.
To be honest it amazes me that people can listen to music and videos like this, dismiss it, and then take a step further and hate anyone who listens to it. -

well i used to cut myself and i hate it when people call me emo because im not i have blonde hair and wear bright clothes and i tell jokes and have a good time and im not saying that all people who cut themselfs are supposed to hae black hair and stuuf but im just saying because of something that i did as soon as people see my scars they imedietly think im “emo” or depresed or something

This song was released in 1998 long before the whole EMO thing. It’s not emo, it’s actually really clever. Because to say life is unfair, it’s to say everything in the World is unfair and everything you experience is unfair and BBR are so clever as they narrowed it down to 2 options – kill yourself, or get over it. Like what else can you do if you say life is unfair. I love the song! I actually feel better when I hear it. Perspective <3
