In some patients with fibromyalgia are high blood pressure, raised concerns. A recent study in the Archives of Internal Medicine published in February 2007 showed that common painkillers may increase the risk of hypertension in men. These medications are paracetamol, aspirin and NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). The gloomy news for fibromyalgia patients is that these drugs are often prescribed to these suffering with this painful, debilitating condition.

The study involved 16 031 men in question, all health professionals with an average age of 64. Six years. In 2000, the beginning of the study, they did not all have a history of hypertension.
