Aspiring orthodontist is what I get my bachelor’s in?
I’m going into my senior year in high school, and I apply to colleges soon. I would like an orthodontist so what I’m majoring in? Do I have pre-med?

Premed is overrated and old fashioned. Pick a real science for your degree…the hardest one you can master. Chemistry, biology, engineering, math….all of these show an aptitude and ability.
You will be prepping yourself for dental school, so get some background experience. Go to work in a dental office. There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer. You will be doing grunt work, but as you prove yourself, may get a chance to aspirate (suck spit) for a hygienist or the dentist.
If you don’t get into a major university, go to a community college and get a stellar gpa. Transfer to university and continue a strong path. Dental school admission is very competitive. If you have done well in undergraduate, and don;t get into dental school, you have set yourself up to be competitive for highly desirable graduate schools. Didja know that there are three jobs for every chemical engineering student that graduates?

Hello…Ahhh, Would you have to take “Pre-med” you ask if your desire is to be an Orthodontist, and could you major in something else you wonder…..Well, lets see….I want to be a Chemical engineer so for my post grad course to prepare for that I will take “Animal Husbandry” or maybe even “Creative Writing” might do the trick….then again, I might want to consider “Drama”…OK OK, I know that my answer is off the wall, but it’s actually right on target when you suggest that something other than pre-med would be desirable for someone wishing to become a member of the health professions….I know you’ll make the right choice.
