What do recurring yeast infections related to diabetes?
ok so in the last 3 months ive had 2 yeast infections, and I have gone to the doctor for both. My doctor asked if diabetes ran in my family I told her that to have both of my grandfathers. My doctor said that when I get them to have these infections, to test me for diabetes’s. I’m kinda confused because I do not see the connection.

Basically, yeast, which is a fungus, grows in warm, moist areas making the vagina a jackpot location for an infection. Yeast feeds off sugar so if you add high blood glucose levels, the infection will grow like wildfire. Actually, the yeast infections were what prompted me to start looking after my diabetes. I was one of those people who thought “I don’t feel bad so why worry about it till I do”. After living for months with almost constant yeast infections due to high blood sugar, I couldn’t take it anymore. I was buying OTC treatments nearly every week and even went to the doctor for Diflucan. They would subside for a few days then it would start all over again. I am currently on insulin to control my sugar and the infection has gone away. It only takes a few minutes to have yourself checked. Why not just go ahead and do it? I can assure you, if you are diabetic and getting yeast infections they will not go away until you have your sugar under control. I had never had a yeast infection in my life before I became a diabetic.

Having high blood glucose causes a higher risk of many types of infections, including yeast infections. The easiest way to think of it would be that there is too much sugar in the blood and it gets deposited all over the body and creates targets for microbes. Having testing done for diabetes is quite simple and you would be better off knowing about it so that you can try to get it under control before it causes more serious health problems.

I know that having too much sugar in your system can cause yeast infections. I don’t know too much about it, but I believe it has to do with acidity?? I think the more sugar you have in you system, the high your acidity levels are. Yeast is natural in that area of the body (as well as the mouth
lol), so it’s not that you suddenly have yeast, it’s that the other bacteria in the same area are not able to survive in such plentiful amounts, and because that it off balance, the yeast is able to thrive. I can’t say that is 100% right, so you should do some research. I learned a little about it in class, and that is what I remember. Hope that it helps!!

Higher glucose levels promotes the growth of yeast infections. What I say next may or may not pertain to you. But just a thought. If you are having relations with a friend , he may be transmitting this infection to you. You both may need toi be treated. A male can carry this for a very long time without any symptoms.
