What are all the classes I need to take in college to become a dentist or orthodontist?
I would like a list of classes I need to take in college to become a dentist or orthodontist. A list for each would help a whole lot.

Some colleges will offer a pre-dentistry major just like a pre-med or pre-law program; however, there are different routes to the same goal. You can have an undergraduate major in any type of science, but you probably should stick to anatomy or biology. Each college will have slightly different classes to take for that major, so look up a college that interests you and view their anatomy or biology major requirements.
After you complete your four year degree, then you would go on to graduate school and major in dentistry. Here are some of the courses you would probably take at this level:
• Craniofacial Function
• Crown and Bridge
• Dental Anatomy and Occlusion
• Endodontics
• Esthetic Dentistry
• Ethics and Jurisprudence
• Geriatric Dentistry
• Microbiology and Oral Health Promotion
• Neuroanatomy
• Nutrition
• Operative Dentistry
• Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology
• Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology
• Pediatric Dentistry
• Periodontology
• Practice Management
• Removable Prosthodontics

I am a school counselor and have worked with hundreds of students and parents. The same questions about how to find the right college or plan for college keep coming up. I decided to set up some online classes (self paced) to answer many of your questions and activities to help in the process. My site is located at globalscholar.com and type in my name “Kerrie.”
