What would you do to accomodate a student with scoliosis in your classroom?

scoliosis isn’t usually a special ed accommodation–it may eb secondary to a special ed need
scoliosis is usually a 504 accommodation–
special seating to support the spine/help with comfort/accommodate any brace
rest periods…maybe some extra time if the child is too uncomfortable—
in severe cases where breathingis affected –an aide may be need–this migth fall under special ed–but could alos be provided through 504
there may be accommodations in phys ed–like exemption or modified activties
if there are activties that require bending–having a partner do it if teh chidl can’t

provide a comfortable workstation for them. Make sure that there is someone who knows how to adjust the brace and make sure that they are sensitive to their comfort. Make sure they can adapt to their environment.
