Japanese fertility festival
Thousands flocked to a small shrine here Sunday to take part in the Kanamara Festival, an event with roots dating back centuries and known for its huge consecrated phallus portable shrine carried mostly by transvestites.

Japan is sexed out of its mind. I saw unbelievable things when I was in Tokyo. Everyone from the very young to the elderly solicits for sex. A few would pull out their wallets while making it clear they wanted to do perform on me..mothers and daughters solicit together all the time, couples, women behind husbands’ backs… whole train cars would be silently charged with sex.

you were probably in a bad neighborhood. i think its kind of misleading to say that the entire country of japan is “sexed out of its mind”
you were only in one area right?i don’t know about them being sex crazed or anything but my philosophy teacher showed us this video in class last Thursday and said they hold these kinds of festivals because of the population crisis they’re currently facing.

I know it’s something that’s hard to believe. I was shocked (pleasantly at first, I admit, as the attractive were among the participants) when all this was being revealed to me. And it wasn’t until I’d been in the country a few years that I was hit with the full brunt of it–exactly why I don’t necessarily know. I went over originally to teach English for a church, and Protestants do undeniably create a little bubble for themselves. That had something to do with it, I’m sure.

Doesn’t appear to have done them any good. The birth rate in Japan is way too low to sustain them.
