Is it ethical for a christian to deny HIV testing to pregnant women?
A senator in Colorado thinks it is.

First of all, remember that even Christians can act unethically at times; all are susceptible to sin.
I don’t know why this senator wants to deny HIV testing to pregnant women. Maybe they think drawing blood from the mother would harm the child (which I don’t think would happen from such a small amount drawn), or maybe they’re citing Leviticus 17, which says it is unlawful to consume blood- I’ve heard that Jehovah’s Witnesses refuse to receive blood transfusions because of this passage. Although, having blood drawn can’t be interpreted as consumption, because you’re losing blood, not receiving. So I would say (granted, I have not studied a lot of Christian theology outside of the New Testament) that this senator’s beliefs aren’t based in Christianity, but are simply the senator’s own opinion.
Is it ethical? I don’t think so. -

I bet he thinks it’s wrong for women to read too. Why does Society tolerate this type of idiocy?
Deny medical care…..because she is pregnant?
