how to treat bad arthritic hips with diet?
My dog is 15 has lost weight thanks to our homemade dog food is on Metacam for arthritis but I wanted to know if there is anything else I can do? His hips give out on him he exercises and I want to do what ever I can to help him
My friend gives her dog glucosamine (and she takes it herself).
In spite of one leg being deformed she (dog) who used to be in pain now jumps up onto the sofa amd props herself on the good hind leg to look out of the window.
This dog is on home made food too.
I think there is a form of ibuprofen for dogs.
You would need a friendly pharmacist to calculate the dose based on your dog’s body weight. (There was a post on here last year from a man who had done this).
Or a trip to the vet to discuss pain relief. there are quite a few options, some are prescription only.
