How does the profession view Oncology Naturopathic Physicians?
The medical center, where my wife had cancer, she had a reference for a naturopathic doctor and we used it from a mouth cancer treatments of chemotherapy and radiation. Even after her cancer treatment, we are following the advice of one. But as seen by the oncologist? The oncologist never told not to do, which recommended the naturopathic doctor, but it seems to me that she saw his expertise a little different. So how are naturopathic doctors seen by oncologists and surgeons? Peter to be careful! I don’t know about oncologists specifically, Dave, but the several doctors I have in various specialties don’t seem to have a problem with it as long as it is used as an adjunct to more standard therapies. Maybe I am just blessed with open minded specialists but they all have prescribed homeopathic treatments/medications for me at one time or another. Am I confusing the terms? Homeopathic vs naturopathic? Is there a difference? I’m a bit tired tonight but wanted to try and answer your question since I think it’s interesting. (I screwed up big time a couple of hours ago and shot myself with a big night time dose of what I thought was long-acting Lantas for my diabetes and turns out it was Novolog, short acting and super fast acting and the dose was way, way higher than I would ever take of that med! I’m sitting here now, checking my blood every 30 minutes, afraid to go to sleep until my blood sugar stabilizes and eating sugar as required to offset the Novolog! What a dummy I am!) Feel free to educate me Dave on the homeopathic vs naturopathic ~ I really am interested.
P.S. Latest test indicates my sugar going up instead of down, thank the Lord!

I am not an oncologists. But have dealt with them. Some have no issues, others do. That simple. Of those that do, it is mostly like you say as long as it is complementary therapy and not the therapy itself. They are viewed differently as in many states there is no regulations on naturopaths adding to confusion.
My oncologist hasn’t suggested one, nor has he said don’t. Legally speaking they can only advise radiation, surgery or chemotherapy for cancer patients.
I believe in the coming age you will see more mutidiscplinary approaches. Personally, I have opted out of chemo for alternative therapy.
