This woman is wrong. Tryptophan consumed from any food isn’t able to cross the blood-brain barrier and therefore there is no reason to believe that bananas have any anti-depressant effect other than raising your bloodsugar. If tryptophan is to have a serotonin increasing effect you need to take tryptophan as a supplementary meal where you don’t eat anything else containing other amino acids as that will prohibit the tryptophan from being extracted by the brain.

If your truly very depressed and anxiety ridden, whey protein and bananas ain’t gonna do shit. lmao. It will help people from feeling that ‘down’ and/or in the dumps feeling but if you’ve ever felt anxiety (which in my opinion is just.. fucking horrible compared to depression even the though they go hand in hand) whey protein aint helping anyone.

To keep anxiety and depression at bay.. hang out with friends. Weight lift and run. Eat healthy and stay away from things that could trigger negative thoughts and feelings. Of course you will not accomplish this completely but it will certainly help. Oh, and SLEEP and takes naps, and work to keep your mind off your problems and to be around people. And yeh.. a banana a day.
