Why can’t I see road signs clearly although the opticians say my prescription glasses are fine?
I am slightly short sited and have a slight astigmatism, I have been to several different opticians and the perscription is always slightly different. I don’t know whether it is normal but I always seem to struggle to focus on the eye chart and when they ask me which letters are clearest I always struggle to know. I have never been able to read the last 2-3 lines on the chart and whatever perscription I come away with I still struggle to read road signs. Why could this be?
Ooo I had to add my two penny’s. what ever you do DON’T go for polycarb lenses, I have found with my years of experience they are not as good optically as CR39 or any higher index lens.
Some people never will read the bottom two lines on the chart clearly but if your only a slight prescription they should have been able to correct your vision to read them.. Im a moderately short sighted person and I can see the bottom lines with my glasses on.
I don’t mean to be rude but do you tell the optician the truth when they ask you what you can see and which is clearer, or what you think they want to hear. You would be surprised the amount of people who do that (without realising a lot of the time) and don’t get the correct prescription obviously.
I would always recommend a anti reflective coating on lenses which in my opinion does make things a lot clearer, I have it myself and find it cuts down on annoying reflections and the like.
But as I said, don’t go for polycarb its not a great lens type to see through.
