What is the cause of recurring yeast infections?
I seem to be always getting yeast infections. I go a few months without one and then it comes back. sometimes they are not as bothersome as others, but i am tired of getting them. Have taken prescriptions for them. No one seems to be able to give me the answer, not even doctors!

a bacterial imbalance, caused by lots of stuff, like meds, too much sugar, wet clothing, or, in my case, any synthetic undergarment, i can only wear cotton, nothing else.
raw unpasteurized apple cider vinegar..i actually add it to a low sugar fruit juice
Susan, from KY writes, “I am a little embaressed to write about this problem but felt I needed too. I have had a yeast infection for months caused initially by taking antibiotics. After being to my doctor twice and her giving me 2 different prescriptions (neither worked) I came across this website. I had heard that vinegar had helped women with this problem before but I was skeptical. Being desperate to try anything I used 2 TBS ACV in a glass of distilled water and drank it 2 times a day. At night I just used 2 TBS in a little water. IT WORKED. Thank you to the people who have had success and were willing to put it on this website!” -

Another reason could be the imbalance of “good” and “bad” bacteria in the intestines. I suggest taking all natural Optiflora which is a two-product system that includes Probiotic (Bifidus & Acidophilus…microflora) + Prebiotic (FOS…food source for microflora). Due to its patented encapsulation process, it guarantees delivery of 500 million live microflora to the intestines. Also, the prebiotic destroys overgrowth of yeast.
Hope this is helpful and feel free to contact me with questions.

Many women suffer from frequent yeast infections, which can indicate an underlying metabolic imbalance. It often helps if you change your diet,Try reducing your sugar intake, High sugar diet stimulate the growth of yeast. You might want to try acidophiles culture. Friendly and natural to the intestinal tract, they may also out-compete yeast in the vaginal area . You can buy acidophiles in capsule form in a health food store. When infections occur, try placing a capsule of acidophiles directly into the vagina once a day. If none of this works, you will have to rely on your doctor. It also helps if you wear cotton pantys, that are loose.

Have they tried different medications? I had this and they changed the medication and it stopped it. Also I was advised to eat yogurt everyday. I have done this and do not have problems now. Allergy to condoms? Stay away from baths with bubble bath and oils in them. Antibiotics ALWAYS give me a dose too.
Hope this helps.

You should really talk to your gynecologist about this and ask for some blood work to be done. If you are also tired a lot, very thirsty and need to pee a lot, you could very likely be a diabetic. Also, are you using a pill to treat the infection or a cream? If you are using the pill, doctors are finding that one pill is not enough and often prescribe 2 or 3 to make sure that it is completely gone. It is possible that you simply have an infection that does not clear up completely. Also, if you wear thongs of panties that are not cotton, try switching to all cotton for a while. They allow air to get to those areas and help to keep them drier, which will also help prevent infections. Best wishes.
