What are early signs of infertility? Are extremely irregular periods anything to worry about?
I was on birth control for 5 years and stopped 6 months ago. My husband and I are ready for a baby. I tried one of those online ovulation calendars, but each month, my cycle gets longer and the length of my periods are usually about 10 to 14 days. My parents both had infertility problems and conceived me through in vitro fertilization, so I am worried that it could happen to me. I am only 24, and most of my friends my age have 3 or 4 kids. It seems that if other people my age can have babies so easily, I should be able to as well. I will not have health insurance for a couple more months, so seeing a doctor isn’t an option at this point.
Did you notice that you were more regular right after stopping birth control? If so that might be the key. I am only regular(or close to) for the first 3-4 months off of birth control after that my cycles get longer and longer and more uneven. I had the best luck by trying as soon as I stopped taking the pill.
Do your parents know why they had infertility problems? You might find out if there problems could be genetic or not.
You won’t really know until you try though.
