Are You Planning on Having Liposuction Done?

0

Liposuction often gets a bad wrap, some people think that the only people who are getting liposuction are stuck up rich people with vanity issues, but there has to be some valid reasons that liposuction is, by far, the most popular form of plastic surgery.
The sheer quantity of liposuction patients in recent years is astounding; in fact the numbers are in excess of a quarter of a million people a year who undergo the procedure. The reasons that the number of liposuction procedures have become so great in recent years is that there are a number of benefits to having it done, aside from the usual stigma of vanity.
Breast Reduction
This is one of the most often overlooked reasons for having liposuction, and this reason can have tremendous health benefits for the patient. Women who have unusually large breasts can regularly suffer from upper and lower back pain, neck pain and sometimes severe headaches. Liposuction can effectively reduce the size of the breast in a minimally invasive procedure and virtually eliminate all of these problems, thereby improving the overall well being of the patient.
Improved Appearance and Increased Confidence
People from all walks of life struggle with their appearance and body image issues every day. This isn’t a scenario that’s limited to pseudo-celebrities who are too lazy to go on a diet or to put time in at a gym. There are people who work hard every single day to try and achieve their desired results without ever being able to get to where they want.
Liposuction should never be considered just another way to lose weight, but for those who have exhausted all other methods of getting the results that they can be happy with – those who have been on diets prescribed by nutritionists and have spent the time sweating and exercising in the gym, but still can’t get the desired shape to their bodies, liposuction is a very viable option to obtain those results.
There is a misconception among the general public that the morbidly obese can just waltz into a clinic and have every ounce of fat sucked out of them, that they can suddenly be fit and trim without having to put in any work or effort at all. This really couldn’t be further from the truth, the process of liposuction can only really remove small amount of fat from a person at a time, usually less than ten pounds in a session; so liposuction can’t really be considered as an end all weight loss option for someone who is severely overweight, but it is a very good choice for someone who’s worked their way down to the last few stubborn pounds that just won’t come off with regular exercise and a sensible diet plan.
What to Expect
The procedure of liposuction will begin with either a local or general anesthesia before the surgeon makes several tiny incisions in the area of the body from which the fat will be removed. The incisions are so small (often smaller than a quarter of an inch) that some surgeons don’t feel the need to stitch them, which helps keep the bruising down after the procedure is complete.
A very thin vacuum is inserted into the tiny incisions and rapidly pulled back and forth (in an in and out motion) to break up the fat cells and allow for their removal. A reasonable amount of blood and fluid is removed with the fat, so patients are normally hooked up to a simple IV for the duration of the procedure.
During the initial stages of recovery the patient will experience some pain and swelling, and will most likely be wearing a compression garment to aid in drainage, but usually within a week or so recovery is to a point where the patient can move freely and normally.
If you are planning on having liposuction done for health or appearance reasons, don’t let yourself be swayed by naysayers. Do the appropriate research and consult a specialist in your area for an interview to find out if liposuction is the best option to remedy your health issues.

Something about Liposuction

0

Something about. . . . . . Liposuction Liposuction continues to the most common plastic surgery procedure all over the world, and also in India. It is basically a permanent removal of fat cells by the use of a suctioning device. It is a safe procedure, with minimum down time, and fast recovery. It has been shrouded in small controversies, and bad results, but this has been due to the procedure being done by untrained personnel, and other medicos who are not Cosmetic Surgeons. So it is important that a potential client look through the profile of their treating physician and asses really whether that person is actually capable of delivering all that he promises. Do not be led away by claims that they can remove 10 kgs or 12 kgs of fat and make you superthin. Please remember that the safe limits of liposuction are between 3-5% of the total body weight. ProcedureThe procedure involves infiltration of fluid into the areas to be liposuctioned. This has multiple benefits. It helps to loosen the fat, reduces the bleeding dramatically, and allows pain control after surgery as well. Usually I would infiltrate fluid in a ratio of 1:1 with the amount of fat that I plan to aspirate, ie, if I feel that I will aspirate about 1000 cc of fat from an area, I would like to infiltrate less than 10000 cc of the fluid in that area. I actually infiltrate much less than that, only about 0. 5 :1 ratio. This has the benefit that I never face the risk of fluid overload ( potentially dangerous condition, where there is too much water in the body, and the lungs get filled with water). The other benefit is that, what is aspirated is pure fat, and not water mixed with fat. This gives an exact estimate of the amount of fat taken out. We surgeons have a bad habit of including the amount of fluid aspirated into the total volume taken out also, so that we can boast of having done large liposuctions. What is important is not the amount taken out, but how much of actual fat there is. The procedure is done with small incisions over selected areas of the body, after first discussing with the patient, and planning the site of the incision. These incisions generally are not visible and heal very well. They are only about ½ cm in length. There may not be a need to admit the patient in the hospital, so that the patient can go home the same day.

PrecautionsAfter a liposuction, there is a need to wear specially designed pressure garment, over the areas liposuctioned to allow better skin redraping. This may take upto 6 weeks. Any anticoagulant use such as aspirin should be stopped 1 week prior to surgery; smoking should also be stopped 2 weeks before to 2 weeks after surgery for best resultsNewer technologyPower liposuction, vibro-liposuction, VASER, and laser liposuction are some of the newer innovations in this field. In Power and Vibro Liposuction the mechanical effort to carry out liposuction is reduced by the use of special machines, which produce a to and fro rapid motion, thus reducing mechanical fatigue and making the procedure faster. However these are significantly more expensive than conventional liposuctionVASER is the use of internal ultrasound device to melt fat. The advantage is that this is significantly faster, and allows the surgeon to work closer to the skin, and thus better skin draping is achieved, and thus better figure control is achieved. However this is a very expensive device, and expects the surgical cost to double if you ask for a VASER. Laser lipo allows very good redraping action on the skin; however its role in actual fat reduction is a bit controversial. Thus this has not found use in general practice. Please remember that liposuction is not a weight reducing procedure, but a figure correcting/ or a body contouring procedure

Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, and Incontinence

0

Understanding the affects of Alzheimer’s can be a difficult process and caring for someone suffering from the disease often raises a lot of questions. This article offers a simple overview of the illness along with suggestions specifically concerning incontinence management for a person afflicted with Alzheimer’s. What is Alzheimer’s?Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia. It develops slowly over time, often so gradually it is mistaken for normal aging. It is a progressive, degenerative brain disease. Changes in the brain can begin 10 or 20 years before any recognizable symptoms appear and memory loss is usually the first noticeable sign. The affected person progressively loses the ability to take care of them self and eventually requires full-time care. What does incontinence have to do with Alzheimer’s? Incontinence can be a severe problem for people with Alzheimer’s, especially in the advanced stages of the disease. Since they are losing their ability to reason and understand what is happening to them, they can be extremely adversarial to the products themselves or simply to allowing assistance in changing them. These patients are accustomed to maintaining their own personal hygiene and wearing undergarments made of cotton. They retain the desire to care for themselves, but lack the capacity to do so properly and regularly. Many caretakers are challenged daily with keeping a protective incontinence product on their patients. As a result of poor hygiene, sores can develop in the surrounding skin and tissue causing serious health issues. How do I manage their incontinence? The incontinence products chosen need to feel as close as possible to what the patient was wearing when he or she became ill. Comfortable, properly fit products will make the situation less confusing for the patient and easier for the caregiver to manage; lessening the chance the product will be pulled off. After all, they probably did not pull off their underwear as adults before they became ill and their natural instincts will still apply. There are many products designed to resemble the look and feel of real underwear, which minimizes the feeling of being made to wear “diapers”. Products do not have to be bulky to be effective. A quality product can be thin and highly absorbent at the same time. There is an endless variety of products available online including ones designed specifically for urine, feces, or plus sizes. Proper fit is the key to success. How do I choose a product? The first step in choosing a product is learning about the different styles available and their purposes. Pads fit inside regular underwear. Pull-ups/protective underwear are the closest in design to real underwear and most have the added benefit of tear-away sides for easy removal. Belted undergarments are a hybrid style between pads and pull-ups. Briefs (diapers) have tabs on the sides for a secure fit and convenient changing. Reusable products can be an excellent money-saving choice and varieties are becoming more readily available online. Product descriptions should include what level of incontinence they are designed for and size ranges for achieving the best fit.

Does Chance Contribute to Success?

0

We are told that many discoveries happened by accident. In reality, there has been very little that was accidental about them.
For the most part, these so-called accidents have only been opportunities, carefully improved by genius.
It is doubtful that any great permanent success ever was the outcome of blind chance.
We hear a great deal about the wonderful things chance has wrought, but we seldom take the time to examine them.
Nicolas Poussin (1594-1665) was a great French painter in the French Baroque style. It was said of Poussin that, “Whatever was worth doing at all was worth doing well. ” That rule governed his life. Late in life, a friend asked him by what means he had gained such a reputation among the painters of Italy. Poussin emphatically answered, “Because I have neglected nothing. ”
Dr. Thomas Young (1773-1829), an English physicist, confirmed through tests that light waves cause interference. The brilliantly colored soap bubbles blown through a common tobacco-pipe suggested to Dr. Young his beautiful theory of “interferences. ” It led to his discovery relating to the diffraction of light.
Young and early geniuses like him were ready to detect the significance of the most familiar and simple facts. His greatness consisted mainly of his wise interpretation of the facts he observed.
The difference between people consists, in a great measure, to the intelligence of their observation. A Russian proverb says of the nonobservant individual, “He goes through the forest and sees no firewood. ”
“The wise man’s eyes are in his head,” says Solomon. “But the fool walketh in darkness. ” The mind sees as well as the eye. Where unthinking gazers observe nothing, people of intelligent vision penetrate into the very fiber of the phenomena presented to them. They note differences. They make comparisons. Finally, they recognize their underlying idea.
We all know about Galileo Galilei (1564-1642). He was a brillant Italian physicist, mathematician, philosopher and astronomer.
Galileo’s achievements include the first systematic studies of uniformly accelerated motion. He made improvements to the telescope and a variety of astronomical observations. Galileo is often referred to as the “father of modern astronomy;” the “father of modern physics,” and the “father of science. ” Quite a resume’.
Many before Galileo had seen a suspended weight swing before their eyes with a measured beat. Galileo, however, was the first to detect the value of this fact.
One of the vergers in the cathedral at Pisa, after replenishing with oil a lamp that hung from the roof, left it swinging back and forth; Galileo, only 18, noted it attentively. Imagine, at only 18, Galileo conceived the idea of applying the swinging of the lamp to the measurement of time. Obviously, genius has no age limit be it young or old.
Fifty years of study and labor, however, elapsed before Galileo completed the invention of his pendulum. One cannot over rate the importance of his discovery for the measurement of time and in astronomical calculations.
Galileo heard that Hans Lippershey, a Dutch spectacle-maker, had presented to Count Maurice of Nassau an instrument that showed distant objects much closer than in actuality. Galileo addressed himself to the cause of such a phenomenon, which led to the invention of the telescope and proved the beginning of the modern science of astronomy.
Modern times have had many great discoveries too. Joe Morton was traveling throughout SE Asia when he tasted a fruit made from the mangosteen tree. He said it was the best tasting fruit he had ever sampled. He soon learned that for centuries folk medicine had used the mangosteen fruit to treat many diseases in SE Asia.
Joe then wondered if the fruit had any commercial application. To his surprise and delight, there were no commercial uses of the fruit at the time. Joe saw a big opportunity knocking at his door! Thus, was born a modern day phenomenon known as XanGo, a functional health beverage. XanGo likely will reach one billion dollars in revenues faster than any previous company in US history will. Joe Morton’s discovery has resulted in a completely new category of product.
A negligent observer or a passive listener could not have made such a significant discovery. Millions of people in SE Asia had tasted the mangosteen fruit before Joe Morton. Only Joe Morton saw the potential to commercialize and make a business out of the fruit.
Captain (afterward Sir Samuel) Brown (1774-1851) was studying the construction of bridges. He wanted to construct a cheap one so that he could build one where he lived. As was walking one dewy autumn day in his garden, he saw a tiny spider’s net suspended across his path. The idea immediately occurred to him, that a bridge of iron ropes or chains might be constructed in like manner. It was then that he conceived of the idea for the invention of his suspension bridge.
James Watt turned his attention one day to the shell of a lobster; from that model, he invented an iron tube. When Watt laid down this tube, it showed him how to transport water in tubes that led to all kinds of discoveries.
It is the intelligent eye of the careful observer, which gives these apparently trivial phenomena their value. So trifling a matter as the sight of seaweed floating past his ship enabled Columbus to quell the mutiny, which arose amongst his sailors at not discovering land, and to assure them that the eagerly sought New World was not far off.
It is the close observation of little things that is the secret of success in business, in art, in science, and in every pursuit in life.
Human knowledge is but an accumulation of small facts, made by successive generations of people. These carefully prized little bits of knowledge and experience in time develop into a mighty pyramid.
Though many of these facts and observations seemed at first to have slight significance, they all had their eventual uses when fitted into their proper places.
In the case of the conic sections discovered by Apollonius Pergaeus, 20 centuries elapsed before they became the basis of astronomy; a science that enables the modern navigator to steer his way through unknown seas and traces in the heavens an unerring path to his appointed place of safety.
Does chance contribute to permanent success, only if you believe in fairy tales? It is the close observation of little things that make the difference between successes and failures.

Ayurveda Concept of Sexual Intercourse

0

Ayurveda believes that sex is a natural biological drive and to deprive oneself out of it may throw him/her out of balance. We are all aware that food and water are the basic requirement to exist in this world, in the same manner everyone needs sex.
Sexual intercourse involves all the five senses sight, sound, smell, taste and touch and it is believed to be an elaborate process of mutual stimulation gifted to man kind by Nature. It views love making as a union of body, mind and soul which is a more fulfilling experience and it also acts as an emotional bond between husband and wife.
According to Ayurveda, intercourse is the divine process and enjoying it in a relaxed manner leads to a healthy offspring. Pure body and a calm mind is a must for an effective intercourse. Parents mental state during the intercourse plays a great role in the overall health of the offspring and ayurveda advises one to undergo a purification therapy that flushes out the doshic imbalance, thereby resulting in a better sex life.
Kapha, one of the tridohas is responsible for keeping up the sexual vigour. Rasa and Shukra are among the seven tissues that help in sexual feelings. Doshic state of parents at the time of conception too influences the child.
By taking some aphrodisiac before entering into a sexual intercourse, the quality and quantity of the semen is promoted and the sexual enjoyment is enhanced. Shukra Stambhaka are the ayuredic drugs that are used to increase the span of love making.
The reproductive tissues are the essence of all dhatus ( tissue elements) which has the power to create life. Sexual intercourse is believed by ayurveda to creat a new life and bring back youthfulness to the couples. It emphasis that during intercourse, the couple’s attention should be focused on the breathing, mind and the semen through which all the three levels of human being viz physical, mental and emotional are being acted upon and intercourse becomes a love meditation.
Ayurveda, an age old tradition of Indian medical system, emphasis sex to be an integral part of our daily life (dinacharya) and the satisfaction one derives out of it, is being spilled over his other areas of life. It points out the factors influencing the sexual intercourse as below :
a) Both the partners should have a strong feeling that they need each other physically, emotionally and spiritually at the time of intercourse.
b) Men is to approach his women with calm, cool, collected disposition and in an unfrustrated manner, so that her mood too is set up and a condusive atmosphere for an effective lovemaking is created.
c) Their mental and physical health should be robust in order to have a maximum enjoyment during intercourse.
d) Take care that the atmosphere is beautiful, clean, peaceful which seduces the sense organs. Also bathing before coitus/burning incense sticks/using scents rouses ones mood.
e) Best time suitable for intercourse is midnight or after 2 hours having dinner, as it considered as the best time for intimacy (kapha time).
f) A total involvement and enjoyment in a fore play before sexual intercourse, by involving the five senses (touch, smell, see, hear etc. ,) increases the intimacy and a prolonged love making.
g) Each couple’s requirement for sex varies depending upon their body constitution and seasons. It is believed that kapha types has more sexual intercourse than the other two types viz pitta and vata.
h) Bad mood, stressed mind, anxiety, low self esteem, feeling bad of oneself, fear of not able to perform well or not able to satisfy the partner are the other factors affecting the coitus.
i) Take care to solve any misunderstanding with your partner, resolve any anger against one another and try to improve communicating with each other what exactly one enjoys from other.
j) Partners should refrain themselves from intercourse during menses, pregnancy, illness or after a heavy meal.
