My father had kidney cancer and eventually died from it. What sort of screening do I need?
I don’t have my father’s medical history, so I don’t know exactly what kind of cancer it was. However, my father had kidney cancer around age 40, had most of his kidney removed, was living on like a 1/3 of a kidney, and died around 60. I don’t know if having a parent who had kidney cancer increases my own risk of cancer or not, or if I’m supposed to be doing something to help protect my kidneys. I’m 30 years old.
Kidney cancer is not a condition that is inherited, it is caused ( like most cancers ) by environmental factors, so you need not be concerned in that regard.
