My husband suffers from cluster headaches and has to breathe 12-15% pure oxygen for up to 20 minutes at a time at the onset of one. He can tell when one is about to occur. They only happen from August through March, and they are very very severe. We have found that my migraine headache medicine sumatriptan DOES help him. In my research I have found that it is recommended for clusters. It may be expensve for some people who do mot have insurance, but it is worth it. Try the generic brand .

I can’t imagine how someone who is qualified in this area, could ever mistake a migraine for a cluster attack. It’s simple. If the pain is on one side, and the eyeball on that side is bloodshot red and tearing from the intense pain on the nerve, and the other side/eye is unaffected, it has to be cluster.
The patient really knows the pain of CH, he will know it’s CH.
There is NO mistaking it once you have had it. Even ONCE. -

Another medical description that needs tweaking:
.”While migraine patients will lay down during the headache, Cluster patients will become agitated, and pace the floor or bang their head.”-This does not paint the correct picture.Let me put it this way. It’s very simple. If your body was in flames,on fire?
Could you just lay down? Even if you knew it would go out in 45 minutes, leaving no damage.Could you just lie down?
Of course not. You would go out of your mind in agony. -It’s kinda like that. - Comment Feed for this Post
