You don’t describe what really bad is, if it’s meaning to have severe bleeding (like break through , often or as in almost hemorrhaging) then I’d talk to your ob/gyn about having that done. I have a sister that had to take off of work for weeks as they found she had a fibroid that caused excess bleeding. IN that case they had it removed and the period situation bleeding stopped for good then.
