Our insurance did not cover infertility, so I can’t help with that. But our initial consultation was around $100 and included A LOT of testing, husbands SA, ultrasounds,blood work (they took 13 viles of blood from me) etc. Be prepared for multiple visits and a lot of paperwork/questions. Our insurance in Maine doesn’t cover ANYTHING for fertility issues.
However, my suggestion (if you don’t have coverage) is to make sure they code everything they bill with something other than infertility.
In my case, my ovaries weren’t working so everything (the initial tests, blood work, even my HSG and Laparoscopy) was coded under ovarian disfunction or something else, to avoid us having to pay.
Of course the meds had to be out of pocket once we started treatments.
If you can’t get pregnant, something COULD very well be going ‘wrong’ with your body and that is a real medical reason to see a dr and figure out what is wrong.
